PAMR System

New Zealand Network Group (NZNG) deploy dPMR™ Mode 3 System

A digital trunked radio system based on the narrow band dPMR™ technology was developed to provide a network to several customers in transport, logistics and emergency management.

The System

The system provides a four-site 16-channel digital trunked network (at time of writing). NZNG was the first in the world to deploy the new ICOM IC-FC5000E dPMR™ Mode 3 Controller and Controller Management Software.

The requirement was to provide a flexible radio communication network that supports a centralized application system for user management and monitoring. As the system operates in dPMR™ Mode 3 and supports full trunking capabilities for maximum channel resource availability (particularly during peak traffic hours), it enables a diverse range of customers (from transport, logistics to emergency management) to have access when they need it most.

Realtime Management and Reporting

The system is managed using Icom’s RS-MGR2 dPMR Mode 3 System Manager software which monitors the operating status of each site in real-time, generating system alerts and log search functions for the system; which allows NZNG to easily produce call reporting and traffic logs for end-user reporting and costing.

Reliable and Clear Communication

NZNG placed critical importance on the requirement for reliable and clear communication. Proven dPMR™ digital and Mode 3 operation provided the best solution and due to the digital nature of the radio terminals, background noise is highly suppressed, enabling reliable and clear radio communication even in a high noise environments.
